An extraordinary late 19th-century vampire hunting box from Spain, containing a fascinating collection of objects associated with vampire folklore and the mythology surrounding the vampire hunter.
The box contains an old prayer book, holy water jar, wooden mallet and stake, old crucifix, syringe and jar with blood sample, rosary and other carefully assembled curios. Together, they create an atmospheric and highly unusual collector’s piece.
Dating from the late 19th century and Gothic in style, this vampire hunting box would make a striking addition to a cabinet of curiosities or a collection centred around the macabre, folklore, Gothic history or unusual historical objects.
Its combination of religious objects, traditional vampire-hunting implements and aged materials gives the piece tremendous visual character and makes it a real conversation piece.
